Waiver and Discounts

The Journal of Food and Biotechnology is dedicated to supporting researchers from diverse backgrounds by offering waivers and discounts on article processing charges (APCs) to authors who may face financial challenges. Recognizing that APCs can be a barrier, particularly for researchers from low- and middle-income countries or institutions with limited funding, the journal has developed a waiver and discount policy to make open-access publishing more accessible.

Eligible authors may apply for either a full or partial waiver, depending on their financial circumstances. The journal prioritizes authors from countries classified by the World Bank as low-income and lower-middle-income economies. Additionally, the waiver program takes into account individual situations, such as a lack of funding support, to allow researchers from diverse academic backgrounds to participate in open-access publishing without financial strain. For those who do not meet the full waiver criteria but still require financial assistance, discounted APC rates are available to ensure equitable access to publishing resources.

Through this initiative, the Journal of Food and Biotechnology seeks to foster global collaboration and inclusivity in food science and biotechnology research. The waiver and discount policy reflects the journal’s commitment to promoting scientific contributions from underrepresented regions and diverse backgrounds, ensuring that impactful research is not hindered by financial limitations.

Full Waivers

Authors from low-income countries may be eligible for a full waiver of APCs, allowing their research to be published without financial barriers. Eligible countries are those classified as low-income economies by the World Bank.

Discounts

Discounted APCs are available for authors from middle-income countries or those facing financial constraints. Discounts are also extended to:

  • Early-career researchers.
  • Authors submitting high-impact or groundbreaking research.
  • Authors affiliated with institutions that have established agreements with the Journal of Food and Biotechnology.

How to Apply

Authors wishing to apply for a waiver or discount should indicate their request during the submission process and provide the necessary justification or documentation (e.g., proof of affiliation with a low-income country). Each request will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and authors will be informed of the decision before the review process begins.

By offering waivers and discounts, the Journal of Food and Biotechnology is committed to ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent the global dissemination of valuable food science and biotechnology research.
