Corrections and Retraction Policy
The Journal of Food and Biotechnology maintains a comprehensive corrections and retraction policy to uphold the integrity of the scientific record. This policy addresses the need for transparency and accountability in research publication, ensuring that necessary corrections or retractions are handled in a manner that protects both the authors’ and readers’ interests.
Corrections Policy
Corrections may be issued for published articles if errors affect the content, interpretation, or conclusions of the research. These corrections can involve typographical errors, inaccuracies in data presentation, or omissions that may mislead readers. When such issues are identified, the editorial team will evaluate the significance of the error. If deemed substantial, a correction notice will be issued alongside the original article, clearly indicating the nature of the correction and its impact on the findings. This process ensures that readers have access to the most accurate and up-to-date information.
Retraction Policy
Retractions are issued when an article is found to contain significant flaws that undermine its validity or if ethical concerns arise, such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or other violations. In the event of a retraction, the editorial team will investigate thoroughly and work closely with the authors involved. If a retraction is deemed necessary, a formal retraction notice will be published, explaining the reasons for the retraction. The notice will clearly indicate that the article should not be cited or relied upon.
When a retraction is issued, the original article will remain on the journal’s website with a watermark stating “RETRACTED,” along with an accompanying retraction notice that explains the reason. Retractions will be clearly marked to differentiate them from corrections.
Responsibility for Corrections and Retractions
- Corrections or retractions can be initiated by:
The authors of the article. - The editorial team, based on reviewer or reader feedback.
- External parties, such as readers or other researchers.
The final decision to issue a correction or retraction rests with the Editor-in-Chief, following consultation with the editorial board and adherence to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
The Journal of Food and Biotechnology is committed to ensuring the highest standards of research integrity. By implementing these policies, the journal fosters an environment of trust and accountability within the scientific community, supporting the continued advancement of knowledge in the field of food science and biotechnology.
